Baseball is recognized as an American diversion. It's a game that everyone can have fun with together. Despite the fact that baseball is viewed a less dangerous activity compared to basketball and various other full contact sports, accidental injuries are unfortunately inevitable in enjoying baseball. One of the most common personal injuries in playing baseball is the sprain. Sprains are an injury of the joint and takes place when you stress the ligament beyond its tolerance.
Sprains in the majors, for example, are something that aren't a surprise to athletes. Widespread forms of sprain in baseball are the wrist sprain and the ankle sprain. Wrist sprain commonly arises around the thumb or little finger zones. Ankle sprain happens in the ankles and addressed with the RICE method or one of its variations of the injured ankle.
As of May 2012, Stephen Drew of the Arizona Diamondbacks, could not complete last season after obtaining an injury to his ankle. He's now healing.
Andrew Bailey of the Red Sox will remain on the disabled list after injuring his thumb. The damaged thumb is going to be going through reconstructive surgical procedures and he will not be returning before All-Star break in July 2012.
Infielder Yuniesky Betancourt of the Kansas City Royals is on leave and undergoing recovery treatment for a sprained right ankle. He's anticipated to come back by mid to 3rd week of May 2012.
Based on one website that deals with baseball tutorials and how to's in taking care of sports injuries, "Activity can be resumed when the athlete is cleared by a health care professional, and after all pain is gone." That is one sure approach to decide if the athlete is ready to return on the field, but this should be backed up by a medical release assuring that the patient is well and ready to play.
